The Center for Aging & Community is excited to announce that registration is open for the second Expressive Arts Course in Indianapolis. The Expressive Arts in Long Term Care Project is a two-year project designed to improve quality of life for nursing home residents.
The Course will provide training on programs that engage nursing home residents. When residents are engaged, their moods, temperaments, appetites, and rest improve, all leading to an improved quality of life. The Course is intended to develop project leaders to implement expressive arts programs within long term care facilities. Visual arts, dance, drama, music, writing, and memoir are areas that will be covered during the training.
Continuing education units are available for LTC administrators, social workers, and activity directors.
The course will be offered in Indianapolis:
Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, March 6, 7, 8, and Monday, March 20, 2017:
The Wellington Fishers Banquet & Conference Center
9775 North by Northeast Fishers, IN 46037

Additional courses will be offered in Fort Wayne (May), Merrillville (June), Evansville (August), and Columbus (October). We will communicate dates as soon as they are determined.
The cost to attend all four days is $100 per person.
Each workshop is limited to 50 participants. Participants will receive a Certificate of Training. Those who complete the initial training will be eligible to attend one of two “train-the-trainer” workshops, two-day sessions developed to ensure sustainability for the teaching of expressive arts beyond the scope of this project. Train- the-trainer courses will be offered in South Bend (July) and Bloomington (November).
